English
English is a subject that allows our students to explore a wide variety of fiction and non-fiction texts. These texts will touch upon many themes that will open up their imaginations and equip them to develop their literacy skills for their everyday lives.
Maths
Problem solving and reasoning skills are at the core of our curriculum and pupils are afforded the opportunity to master a range of non-routine tasks using creativity, fluency and confidence.
Science
Our curriculum is ambitious and allows for deep knowledge of the sciences. We do this through an investigative approach that compliments the use of a wide range of pedagogies.
Languages
We aim to ensure that all lessons are ambitious allowing all our students to engage deeply with language learning. We do this through an innovative approach that promotes expertise of language learning through expert pedagogy and linguistic knowledge and understanding.
Citizenship and RE
We are a successful, dynamic and forward looking team of 5 full time members of staff who focus on excellent quality of education for all students.
Computing
The Computer Science, IT and Business department is an extremely successful department that is committed to providing an excellent quality of education for our students. The strength of the department is the quality of curriculum and pedagogy.
Expressive Arts
The Department has a fantastic reputation in the local community and regularly takes part in festivals, concerts, musicals, art exhibitions and a whole host of competitions and projects to involve and cater for all our students.
Technology
We are a department of professionals that strive to achieve outstanding gains through dedication, commitment and drive for excellence through empowering our students with the knowledge of sustainable design, healthy lifestyles through food and nutrition and direct access to vocational based careers such as construction and engineering.
History
The expert team is committed to raising the profile of History as a subject: we passionately believe in its value as an academic subject which should be central to a child’s education. This passion is seen in everyday lessons, using a curriculum carefully crafted and constantly evolving to suit the needs of our students, providing them with the necessary skills for success as well as equipping them with a thirst for history for life.
Geography
Studying Geography provides students with the expertise and knowledge which they can transfer to other subjects and their daily life. They also study a wide range of different geographical processes such as earthquakes, tsunamis, river flooding and the impact these events have on the environment and economy as well as the management of them.
Physical Education
We encourage our students to understand how to learn in and through Physical Education, Dance and Sport and develop key skills that prepare them for being active, independent and responsible learners who take part in regular physical activity and understand the benefits of leading an active and healthy lifestyle.
PSHE and RSHE and Character Education
The curriculum aims to provide our students with the powerful knowledge, skills, and qualities they need to be physically healthy and mentally well citizens of modern Britain who actively contribute to society and know how to keep themselves and others safe. Our Citizenship curriculum is ambitious, broad, and balanced.
