How we deliver Science

In years 7, 8 and 9 all students have 4 lessons of Science per week.

In years 10 students following the Combined Science pathway will have 4 lessons of Science per week and in 11 have 5 lessons of Science per week.

In years 10 and 11, students following the Separate Science pathway will have the same number of lessons as above, with the addition of 2x period 6 session per week to cover the additional content required.

Department Information

The Science department at Co-op Academy Failsworth is a forward thinking dynamic team that focuses on delivering an excellent quality of education. We are an accomplished team consisting of Biologists, Chemists and Physicists who teach across all key stages. Our curriculum is ambitious  and allows for deep knowledge of the sciences. We do this through an investigative approach that compliments the use of a wide range of pedagogies.

We encourage the engagement of our students with a range of extra-curricular activities ranging from a Science club to intervention, personalised revision, breakfast clubs, a Science council and a variety of trips. Our expert Science team has developed a strong, captivating curriculum. This has been established to allow for an engaging and challenging curriculum, which supports the transition from KS3 into KS4 allowing our students to secure their science expertise.

Across all key stages our enthusiastic, dedicated team endeavour to deliver vibrant, thought-provoking lessons embedding scientific expertise and our Co-op values that will allow our pupils to enjoy a successful future.
