The student council at the Co op Academy Failsworth is about raising students aspirations, providing leadership opportunities and empowering the student body to have a voice and promote continuous improvement across the academy. The council is made up of representatives from each year group. They meet every week to discuss current issues and work on different projects both on an academy level and across the wider CAT.
The students work collaboratively with staff to influence change, looking at specific areas of focus including; promoting the Co op values, developing the curriculum, working on promoting literacy, participating in the peer mentor programme to support others and promoting participation in sports through the sports leaders initiative.
Over the next academic year the students will be participating in charity work, raising funds to support our nominated charity, Just a Drop, working towards the Eco Schools Bronze Award and participating in the Envision Programme.
