How we deliver Computing

In years 7, 8 and 9 all students have 1 lesson of Computing per week.

In years 10 and 11 all students have 3 lessons of Computer Science / ICT / Enterprise and Marketing per week.

Qualifications delivered by the ICT department:

  • GCSE (9-1) OCR Level 1/2 Computer Science
  • OCR Level 1 / 2 Cambridge National Certificate in Enterprise and Marketing
  • OCR Creative iMedia

Department Information

The Computer Science, IT and Business department is an extremely successful department that is committed to providing an excellent quality of education for our students. The strength of the department is the quality of curriculum and pedagogy.

The department is currently made up of 5 specialist staff. With changes in the National Curriculum and the focus on Computing and Programming students a KS3 all students receive 1 lesson of computing per week. At KS4 students can opt for a range of qualifications: OCR GCSE Computer Science, OCR Cambridge Nationals Certificate in Enterprise & Marketing and OCR Cambridge Nationals Certificate in Creative iMedia. The department has recently made a transition to delivering the curriculum through the Google Classroom platform to prepare students for working in a digital environment.

We offer thriving after school clubs for students to further their knowledge and insteret of Business, ICT, Computer Science and Enterprise skills. Our approach to curriculum and pedagogy ensure our students are confident users of ICT.

Our classrooms are purposeful environments which encourage students to value the access to equipment that they have. The Computer Science, IT and Business department is a thriving, happy department which always strives to be the best and most successful team it can be.
